The wound is the place where the light enters you.
Welcome to the possibilities of healing that await you. Seeking support can be a difficult and courageous step, often reached by loss, pain, crisis or disappointment. I commend you for exploring your choices and taking charge of your life.
I offer tools and techniques from Client Centred, Mindfulness Based, Solution Focused, Narrative and Emotionally Focused approaches to therapy with an emphasis on the Transpersonal and Spiritual. I provide support for those experiencing Anxiety, Depression, PMDD, Post-partum, Life Transition, Personal Growth and Relationship Challenges. Services are available for LGBTQ, parenting, couples and individuals. Due to the current COVID19 pandemic counselling sessions will be available online or by telephone only.
My personal interest in psychology began during my undergraduate studies when I experienced anxiety and panic attacks. I sought counselling, self help books and found many useful tools to cope. Yoga and mindfulness practice became my favourites. I completed my Yoga teacher training and have since taught classes to students of all ages and stages.
After having my first son I returned to complete graduate level counselling training at the University of Ottawa. My clinical experience includes working with international and post-secondary students, serving the military population and specializing in family, couples and individual counselling.
I took a break from full time work to spend time with my children and relocated to Salt Spring Island, BC. I have since undergone significant midlife changes including a profound spiritual emergence and ongoing individual transformation. I am humbled and captivated by the beauty and complexity of the human condition. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, singing, dancing, cooking, hiking and swimming.

My own experience of trying to go it alone has taught me that we humans are not designed for taking this journey on our own. As Ram Dass tells us, “We’re all just walking each other home” and we need connection to heal and grow. So, whether or not you contact me, do connect with someone and trust yourself to know who and what is right for you. Please check out my resources below for some of my favourite authors and links.
Love and Light,
Our first telephone conversation will help you determine whether you feel comfortable speaking with me. You may want to consider what specialty and experience you are looking for in a counsellor and ask about their training and professional designation. There are many styles of counselling and approaches to healing work. Trust yourself to know if the experience is helpful to you and speak up about any concerns.
Individual sessions are 50 minutes in length and couples sessions are 75 minutes. We can discuss your goals and needs to decide on the right frequency for you. Sometimes one session is enough, other times clients choose to continue weekly sessions for months. Finances may be a factor since BC Medical does not cover counselling services. If you have extended insurance coverage check with your provider to find out how many sessions they will reimburse.
If you cancel a scheduled session with 24 hours notice you will not be charged. If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice I reserve the right to charge 50% of the fee. If you do not cancel and do not show up for a scheduled session you will be charged the full fee.

I also am required to attend ongoing professional training to keep my knowledge and skills current. This allows me to use the designation of Certified Canadian Counsellor or CCC.
